Kyrill Khieninson

Kyrill Khieninson
Kyrill - lead singer of The Dirty - was born in St Petersburg, Russia, and came to the UK with his mother at the age of 12 with a couple of suitcases and £100 between them.

His mother had to give up her career as a research scientist in order to bring her son to London and give him a better chance in life.

Kyrill learned to speak English on Berwick Street market, Soho, in London, while carrying boxes in a basement stockroom for £20 a week before going on to school where his truancy rates were matched only by the straight A's he achieved and the number of fights he found himself in.

The Dirty are the first signing to Chris Blackwell and Tricky's new label Brown Punk.
