The Afghan Arms Bazaar

Taleban fighters in Afghanistan
Over the last few months, Taleban insurgents in Afghanistan have been carrying out increasingly bloody attacks on foreign troops and Afghan civilians. But where do the Taleban get their weapons from?

In this investigation for Assignment, Kate Clark travels undercover to Afghanistan to meet the Taleban, arms dealers and Northern Alliance commanders.

She finds that demand for weapons in Afghanistan is soaring and that the Taleban get some of their most effective weapons from surprising sources.

First broadcast in September 2008
