The deal will provide China with access to DR Congo's vast cobalt mines |
The Chinese are coming to the Democratic Republic of Congo, one of Africa's largest, poorest - and yet potentially richest - countries, and they have gigantic plans.
In a deal worth $6 billion China plans to repair and rebuild the country's highways, railways, hospitals and universities - in return it will get a valuable slice of the Congo's vast mineral wealth.
It's being called the Contract of the Century. For Assignment Tim Whewell travels to DR Congo to ask who's really benefitting most - Congo or China?
