Rokia Coulibaly prepares the ingredients for a traditional nut sauce: nut paste, onion, chilli, carrots and meat. Rokia lives in the suburb of Koumassi on the south east side of Abidjan, the commercial capital of Ivory Coast. Worldwide prices for rice, maize and wheat have nearly doubled over the past year. Price rises are being keenly felt in West Africa where people spend most of their budget on food. |
