![]() Penny Pepper In programme two writer and performer Penny Pepper discusses how her frank depiction of disabled sexuality, in her short story collection Desires, shocked many.
Penny, a wheelchair-user, talks about escaping from the limitations of institutional care and unsympathetic medical regimes to fulfil her dreams of writing and self-expression in theatre, song and print. Fancy Nancy, the novel she’s currently writing, contrasts the lives of modern disabled people with the denizens of a Victorian freak-show at the time of the Elephant Man.
