In his acceptance speech Doukoure said he was particularly honoured to win the award in the year FESPACO had chosen actors as their festival theme. Awatef Jendoubi has had to fly in the face of traditional values and her family, to work in her chosen profession. She is also known for her critical views on traditional Tunisian society where she says the man "still behaves like a master"."
