Israel at Sixty: Has Zionism Worked?

Zalman Shoval (left), Bambi Sheleg and Alon Hilu join join Paul Adams to debate the future of Israel
Sixty years ago the world's first and only Jewish state declared its independence - a home for a people without land, it promised.

But how has the country fared? And would the country's founding fathers recognise the country it has become?

In a special programme for the BBC World Service, Paul Adams is joined by Zalman Shoval, Bambi Sheleg, and Alon Hilu to trace how the people, the land and the nation's ideals have changed over the past six decades and asks leading Israeli thinkers about the challenges that lie ahead.
