Leah Zakss
Leah has spent the past 5 years with the British Council
Leah studied piano and clarinet, completing a degree in Music and Public Art.

After organising fundraising gigs for Greenpeace, playing in a shambolic ska-dub band and other adventures, she joined SASA Music agency, developing a roster of international artists as a show booker, tour producer and promoter.

She worked on the international touring for Buena Vista Social Club as well as other bands and DJs from the UK, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Independently, she has worked on festivals, and has written for music publications.

Leah has spent the past 5 years with the British Council, advising on its music programme across the Middle East, North Africa, South and East Asia and China.

Focusing on cultural relations and educational opportunities, the British Council works with the most creative and innovative developments in new British music from rock and dance to jazz and folk.

Recently, this has included Seth Lakeman working with top percussionists in Libya, Coldcut creating A/V Bollywood remixes in India, Akala performing alongside local hip-hop stars in Vietnam, and Brian Eno creating a sound installation for a public park in China. British Council projects involve talented young musicians from all over the world.
