 China and Walmart The US supermarket company Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer.
Truly one of the world's corporate giants, it has 3,600 stores across the globe, employing more than 1.5 million people. In 1999 it took over the UK chain Asda, and quickly moved them up the market share. Now it is looking to China's fast-growing economy to boost profits further.
