![]() Thirty-three-year-old Godwin was orginally brought up in Nigeria but now lives and works in London.
He is the first person to take part in a leadership programme supported by the British government and a number of well established HIV and Aids charities (Terrence Higgins Trust, Sigma Research, NAM (National AIDS Manual) and the African HIV Policy Network). The year-long traineeship will enable Godwin to develop a career in HIV prevention and sexual health promotion. Godwin's work will focus on giving immigrants access to services and information about sexual health, African communties in the UK face the biggest increase in new HIV diagnoses but have some difficulty in accessing the required support. It is hoped with Godwin's connections within the African immigrant community, he will be uniquely placed to help. His aim is to raise awareness in order to reduce infection rates and improve quality of life for those already affected. |
