Michael Caton-Jones Shooting Dogs, one of the newest films on Rwanda's genocide, was directed by Michael Caton-Jones, who also worked with John Hurt on Rob Roy and Scandal.
"By filming in the actual locations where this particular story took place, we were able to give the film an authenticity and power that would be very difficult to reproduce elsewhere," the director said. The country's culture minister, Joseph Habineza, said he was "delighted" Shooting Dogs would get its premiere in Kigali this spring. "The film-making was a most rewarding experience for the thousands of Rwandans who participated," he said. "The story that is told in the film is an important contribution to this country's recent history and I believe it can help in the process of reconciliation that we have been building in Rwanda for more than a decade." |
