![]() Thirsty Communities: Harvesting the Rains in Rajasthan At the edge of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, people face the prospect of droughts every year, and anxiously await the monsoons.
Water is precious and there is a huge national debate about who owns the water. But in the poorest and driest communities of the Thar, a small revolution is underway to empower local villages and to revive the ancient Indian traditions of harvesting rainwater to keep the desert at bay.
