All entries must be received before midnight GMT on the Closing Date. 4. Entrants must be no younger than 20 and no older than 30 as of 31st March 2007, and be residents of Ghana or Jordan. Entrants may be required to provide evidence of their age and/or residency and/or establish that they are not professional journalists before receiving any prize. 5. Two winning entrants from each country shall each receive a laptop computer, and the opportunity to work with the BBC to produce their news story. The decision of when the winners shall make their programme shall be at the discretion the BBC, and winners should be available for a period of 2 - 4 days. The BBC shall also pay the winner's transport and accommodation costs, subject to the BBC's prior approval of such costs. In addition to the Winning Prizes, five runners up from each country shall each receive an MP3 player. No cash alternative to the prize is offered. The description in any literature or medium of the prize offered in conjunction with the Competition is not binding and may be subject to change. 6. Entry is prohibited to employees or contractors of the BBC and their direct family members or to any person who is, or has previously been, employed as a professional journalist. 7. The winner of the Competition will be notified in writing by post and published on www.bbcworldservice.com/newsmaker by 23rd April 2007 ("the Notification Date"). The winning entry will be decided at the discretion of a panel of judges whose decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into. 8. The BBC shall not be liable for the non-inclusion of any entry into the Competition which is not legible or as a result of any failures of the internet or postal service, whether or not any such failure is within the BBC's control. Proof of sending an entry is not proof of receipt of an entry. 9. The BBC reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any person it finds to be tampering or to have tampered with the operation of the Competition or to be acting in violation of these Competition rules. 10. It is a condition of entry that winners agree: 10.1 to attend any events publicising the Competition and the involvement of the BBC and the use of the prize winner's name and photographs by the BBC for publicity purposes; and 10.2 that the BBC shall own all rights in the programme produced by the winning entrants and in all material produced whilst making the programme, and that prize winners shall waive all moral and similar rights in such programme and materials; and 10.3 that no payment, other than in respect of previously agreed travel and accommodation expenses, shall be made by the BBC in respect of the prize winner's production of the programme. 11. The BBC reserves the right to cancel the Competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control. The BBC shall not be obliged to award a prize if it does not consider entries to be of a sufficient standard. 12. These Terms and Conditions are subject to the laws of England and the English courts shall be the sole courts of jurisdiction. 13. The Competition is run by the BBC. By entering the Competition the entrant will be deemed to have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them. |
