Blair and the World

UK prime minister Tony Blair has announced he is to leave office, signalling the end of his ten years in power.

BBC World Affairs editor John Simpson looks back at the impact that Blair had during his time in charge, which was noted for his involvement in global politics.

Blair's time in charge saw him send troops to fight wars in Iraq, Kosovo and Sierra Leone. He also pledged to help heal the "scar" of African poverty, and was noted for his close relationships with leaders such as US President George W Bush and Russian Premier Vladimir Putin.

John Simpson assesses Blair's foreign policy legacy and considers where it has left Britain's standing in the world.
