![]() Resolution 1441 The second chapter begins in the autumn of 2002, with the long, difficult negotiations over the UN resolution on Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction - Resolution 1441.
The lack of consensus is illustrated by just a sample of the answers we got when we asked some of the key players to explain their understanding of what that resolution meant. When Resolution 1441 was finally agreed by the Security Council in November 2002, it was heralded as a triumph for traditional diplomatic skills and a demonstration that multilateralism could still work in a world dominated by a single superpower.
