| | | | How to listen to programmes if no frequencies are shown
If no frequencies are shown next to a programme title on the daily short-wave schedule you have requested, this means that there are no frequencies beamed toward your chosen city at that time of day. The weekly schedules do not show frequencies, but as frequencies do not vary from day to day, refer to the daily schedule or use the frequency charts.
BBC World Service does not schedule short-wave frequencies 24 hours a day. We usually aim to provide frequencies to cover peak listening hours in the morning and evening, local time. Generally speaking, we don't offer an overnight service on short wave and concentrate on scheduling frequencies for the waking hours, when there is the greatest potential audience.
Try other frequencies
If no frequencies at all are shown on the daily schedule, this means there are no direct frequencies beamed to your city. However, you may be able to receive some of the frequencies for nearby regions.
Other ways of listening
There may also be other means of listening in your region, such as satellite, FM radio or cable. The schedule search for your chosen city offers you schedules for all the available means, and you will find more details in our How to Listen in... section.
And of course, all our programmes can be heard online -
Live via the Radio Player link (a daily internet schedule is accessible) - and many are available on demand for seven days after the original broadcast – select your programme from the A-Z Programme list
