My reaction to Outlook - Ife, England

Ife Akintunde is an Outlook listener. Born in Nigeria, he now lives in Lancaster, England. He heard the interview with the British politician David Blunkett who is blind and here is his reaction.

Hi Outlook,

Just a short note to say how much I enjoy Outlook. It's a great mix of interesting items.

I'm writing my very first letter to you because of your interview with David Blunkett.

I'm also a blind person, and can relate to many of the things he spoke about, particularly trying to make others believe in my own abilities.

During his interview, he said he'd like to work to create awareness about blindness in developing countries.

I was born in Nigeria, and spent the first 23 years of my life there, before moving to Lancaster. By the way, that was how I developed a liking for the BBC World Service and Outlook.

I also do my bit to increase awareness in developing countries, and have even given papers on how computer technology is useful to disabled people. There's still a long way to go.

I'm sure that my friends and I would greatly value Mr Blunkett's contribution to the discussion. Furthermore, I'd be glad to contribute to his own efforts in any way I can.

Please pass on my best wishes to him.

Yours faithfully,
Ife Akintunde
