Claire Bolderson came to the job of presenting via foreign reporting, first as a correspondent for the BBC and Financial Times in Indonesia in the early 1990s, when she also reported from Singapore, Malaysia and Burma. There was then a short spell as Foreign Affairs correspondent for BBC World Service and as an Asia editor in the World Service Newsroom. In 1993 Claire embarked on a three and a half year stint in Washington as North America Correspondent for BBC World Service Radio and Television. When she returned to Britain in 1997 Claire began presenting news programmes for World Service, working on Newshour and then as one of the launch presenters for the breakfast programme, The World Today. She continues to travel regularly to report for and present programmes from abroad, particularly from the United States. She has also kept up an interest in Indonesia, presenting live coverage of the country’s first democratic elections in 1999. In the same year Claire started presenting regularly for the World Tonight on BBC Radio 4 and now splits her time between BBC Radio 4 and World Service. |
