Ghana's Oil: Jackpot or Jinx?

Ghana recently celebrated 50 years of independence.
When it was announced that significant quantities of oil had been discovered off the coast of Ghana, in West Africa, a few hours ago, champagne corks began popping in the president's office.

The President, John Kufour, said the oil money would turn Ghana into an African "tiger" economy.

But in many countries the discovery of oil has done little to help the impoverished population.

Will Ghana be any different? Newshour's West Africa correspondent Will Ross reports:
