At the end of July the Cuban leader underwent surgery and ceded power, for the first time in forty eight years, to his brother Raul for the period of his convalescence.

The World Today's Roger Hearing spoke to Mariella Castro, the niece to Fidel and daughter to Raul. She is a sexologist in Cuba. She spoke about politics and Cuba's sexuality and gay rights.
