- Began her career as a BBC news trainee in 1986, working on the Today and the World at One programmes.
- Worked for the Sunday Times before moving to Channel 4 News in 1998.
- From 1989-1991 she was the Central European reporter for BBC World Service, covering the fall of the Berlin Wall and Balkans conflict, and then became the BBC's Paris correspondent.
- Spent a period reporting for BBC TWO's Newsnight. She joined Front Row in 2004.
