Introduction
Gardens
are often places of great beauty where your imagination can
run riot with colour and design. They can also be full of
religious or spiritual symbolism.
In 'A Place in Paradise' World Service presenter Trevor
Barnes travels around Britain exploring the spiritual significance
of garden design. He visits some beautiful gardens with
Buddhist, Christian
and Islamic associations.
His exploration begins at the Royal Palace of Hampton Court,
to the west of London. Join Trevor as he wanders through the
wilderness garden and the Privy Garden in the company of sacred
garden expert - Martin Palmer, Director of the Sacred Land
Trust, and painter, Jonathan Myles-Lea.
Referring to religious gardens around the world they discuss
why these gardens have the potential to bring visitors closer
to God.
