Sabimana is an orphan from Burundi, a central African country which, until recently, has been afflicted by prolonged civil war. Her parents died of Aids. She wants parents to discuss the threat of this disease with their children.

Rabie, 17, Palestinian

Rabie is a Palestinian who lives in the Qalandia Refugee Camp in the West Bank. He was born under Israeli occupation and, like other fellow Palestinians, has suffered from years of blockades and poor living conditions, as well as an attack on his life.

Ganimete is Albanian. She was very badly injured during fighting in the town of Mitrovica and had to have one leg amputated. Now, she has an artificial leg and gets on with it very well.

Marina, from Romania, became infected with HIV when she was only three years old. She is now 13 and lives in Bucharest at a hospital for infectious diseases.
