Medical charity report mass rape in DR Congo on New Year's Day

Rape remains a dominant feature of the ongoing conflict in DR Congo

At least 33 women have been raped in eastern DR Congo, according to the medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres.

It says the attack occured in the eastern town of Fizi on 1 January.

MSF has treated the women for their wounds and provided them with drugs to reduce the risk of infection from HIV.

Katrien Coppens is the operations manager for MSF in DR Congo and speaks to World Update from Amsterdam.
