Former President George W Bush defends policies in memoirs

George W Bush left the White House almost two years ago.

Now, at a time when Republican fortunes are reviving, the former president is back in the spotlight with the release of his memoirs, which defend his "war on terror" and the invasion of Iraq.

Decision Points is being serialised in the Times newspaper in London.

Professor Julian Zelizer of Princeton University has written a book called The Presidency of George W Bush: A First Historical Assessment.

The BBC's Max Pearson asked him how easy it is for an ex-president to circumvent historians and to set the tone for his legacy.
