There were no maps of the area when Graham Greene went on his trek

In the 1930s one of the great novelists of the century, Graham Greene, went on what he called a Journey Without Maps.

It was a trek on foot along over 550km of tracks and paths through Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Now, journalist Tim Butcher has followed in his footsteps.

He has been a war correspondent in the area, but this time he was on the track of the intriguing Mr Greene.
