Pakistan students sent home

Pakistan has ordered a nationwide closure of schools and universities, a day after a suicide attack on the International Islamic University in the capital, Islamabad, which killed six people.

The educational centres will remain closed until Sunday, although universities in Sindh Province will reopen from tomorrow.

The United Nations' World Food Programme has also temporarily closed its distribution centres in conflict areas in the north-west of the country so it can review security measures.

The Taliban said it had attacked the university and warned of further attacks until the Pakistani army ends its offensive in South Waziristan.
