Icelander destroys his own house

It is nearly a year since Iceland's economy went into financial meltdown.

The government in Reykjavik has changed and international loans are supporting public finances, but on a personal level hardships still exist.

One of many Icelanders whose home was repossessed by the banks has taken drastic action to highlight his plight.

Bjorn Mikaelssonn hired a bulldozer and completely destroyed his family house and the car on the driveway.

He spoke to Europe Today's Paul Henley.
