The US army's night patrol began relatively peacefully

However, an explosion soon turned out to be fatal
World Update's Dan Damon has been out on night patrol with Lieutenant John Folk and his platoon.
They made their way through the streets of the Mansour district of Baghdad.
As they walked behind one of the Humvees (a US military personnel carrier) the top gunner still swinging his turret cautiously, watching for potential attackers, the soldiers on foot peered carefully at potential hiding places for bombs.
The night was about to become violent, but first, Dan asked Lieutenant Folk about why the US presence might have made a difference and what might come next.
