Throughout the day, Indian security forces have been trying to take full control of two hotels and a Jewish centre in the financial capital, Mumbai, which were seized by gunmen in concerted attacks around the city that killed more than a hundred people.

Among the targets were the Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station, the Leopold café as well as the Taj Mahal Palace and Oberoi hotels, where the gunmen opened fire, threw grenades and seized hostages.
