Bull Terriers from past and present

The Bull Terrier's head shape has changed over the years

Britain's leading animal charity has announced that it is pulling out of Britain's leading dog show, Crufts.

The the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is calling for new measures to tackle disability, deformity and disease among pedigree breeds.

A BBC television documentary recently revealed the breeding process of such dogs resulted in a high level of genetic illness.

The Kennel Club, which runs Crufts, has insisted the vast majority of dogs are healthy but it recognised there were some problems with certain breeds.

World Update's Dan Damon asked Mark Evans of the RSPCA which breeds in particular were most affected.
