In June 1948, the SS Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury marking the start of mass Caribbean migration to the UK.

Sixty years on, the contribution of those pioneers is being celebrated with ceremonies and church services.
The Caribbean community is now an integral part of multi-racial Britain, but it wasn't always an easy ride for the immigrants.
Sam King was one of those optimistic young men who walked down the Windrush's gangplank.
He is now in his eighties, but still remembers what it felt like that day.
