Living the highlife

From Highlife to Hiplife 1957-2007

More than thirty of Ghana's best artists came together this weekend to perform at a massive golden jubilee concert held at the state house in Accra. The musicians were celebrating fifty years of Ghanaian music as part of the country's anniversary celebrations.

With its prominent horn and guitar sections Highlife was the sound that accompanied Ghana's freedom from colonialism, the music blared out of clubs and hotels across the country in 1957.

Meet one of Highlife's most famous band leaders, CK Mann.
