Nigerian singer and fashion designer, Wunmi has been getting herself noticed on the fashion and dance music scene of London, Lagos and New York for a number of years, and now she has brought out her own debut album, A.L.A. The initials stand for Africans Living Abroad, and on the album she has blended the best of Africa with the best of the diaspora. Her music is a hybrid of afro beat, jazz, London soul, nu-groove and her own inimitable style. Bola Mosuro remembers Wunmi as the iconic dancer with the London dance band Soul II Soul in the late eighties and early nineties and she wanted to find out more about her music and her flamboyant style.
