New Prince of Afrobeat

Inemo Samiama www.inemo.co.uk
His live performances are winning Nigerian music new fans
Passion for Afrobeat and other West African musical styles fires Inemo's impressive new album 'Afro Funky Beats'.

Although he is now based in London he has not lost connection with his roots and is winning friends among Africans on the continent and among the diaspora communities.

"Hi Inemo, I read about your musical accomplishments on the internet and, as an Ijaw man of the Kolokuma-speaking tribe, you made me proud. I am very impressed. Keep it up!"
Posted in Inemo's guestbook by Mathew Tubanimi Sese (Canada)

Hailing from the oil-rich Delta region of Nigeria, Inemo is angered by the hardships faced there, where the predominantly Ijaw population lives in grinding poverty despite the vast wealth generated by the local oil production.

His disgust at the situation simmers among the rhythms of his album.

"Wow this is an amazing album. I didn't know Nigerian music was so good. Big up to you brother."

Inemo pays homage to Nigerian hero, Fela Kuti, re-working his Afrobeat sound and finding new fans like Simon (above) while he tours up a storm in here in the UK.

He spoke to Paul Bakibinga for Network Africa:
