South Africa's ANC conference will elect new leader

The ruling ANC party this morning starts the process of electing their new leader.

The new leader could also be the party's torch bearer in the 2009 elections.

But the leadership battle between president Thabo Mbeki and his former deputy Jacob Zuma has split the party down the middle.

Our correspondent Mpho Lakaje is at the conference in Polokwane and has more details.
