Two of India's most popular movie stars are engaged to be married later this year in what promises to be Bollywood's biggest wedding in years. Large numbers of fans gathered outside Abhishek's house as they heard the news of his engagement. The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder sent this report from Delhi: Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have often been called Bollywood's Brangelina after the Hollywood 'A' list couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: and for months, there's been feverish speculation in the Indian media about their impending engagement, especially after they were spotted coming out of a major Indian temple a few months ago. Finally, late on Sunday night, the couple exchanged engagement rings, just hours after returning from New York where they were promoting their latest film Guru. Abhishek Bachchan belongs to Bollywood's First Family; his father Amitabh has been the industry's biggest superstar for the past four decades and he was once voted the star of the Millennium in an online BBC poll. Ashiwarya Rai is a former beauty queen who has starred in several international films, including Bride and Prejudice, an adaptation of the Jane Austen novel. Crowds of fans gathered outside the Bachchan residence in suburban Mumbai as news of the engagement spread and when the wedding eventually takes place later this year, it promises to be one of India's most glamorous events of the year.
