Alan from Taiwan
Baseball is very popular among Taiwanese. Because our baseball teams often play very good in the world-class games. And people like to watch, play and discuss. We are proud that Taiwan has become famous around the world by baseball, even we just a small island. If you have a chance to visit Taiwan, maybe you can go to the field to enjoy the baseball match. You can find why Taiwanese like baseball very much. See you in the field.

Wadim from Brazil
I think, all the countries must recognize the achievements of its citizens, especially if they won something so important like the 5th Rugby World Cup. They deserve all the titles that Royal Crown offer to them. Sports in general can contribute to a get a better persons, and develop the interest for good and healthy things. Here sports are very important for population, but there is a very close link between sport and drugs, and is responsibility of all the governments to rule this according to the reality of each contry.

Cheng China
That was amazing. Even though I do not like rugby so much, but I believe that any sports can show us something about your country. If you win a championship, that is extremely perfect! Congragulations, England!

HELLO.
Personally, i appreciate more European athletic acttion. On the earthly demention, sports tend to be more energetic and powerful .eg.scoccer.

Anna Kao, Taiwan
for most asian conuntries, win the championship help them feel great, like in Taiwan, the last world cup of baseball, we do hope that we can win, but we lost finally, the hole country all felt disapointted, someone blamed the competitors, it would be a huge pressure to them. but i also know that because Taiwan need some happy thing to rise up our people's spirit.

muzafer iraq
Ilike football so much.eapecially Brazilin football.

Shivakumar,India
Yes,sports help a country to feel good about itself. When india had beaten the Australia in cricket, whole world noticed it's achievement. That brought India in to limelight.Naturally India felt proud about itself. In India ,we give respect to the extra ordinary achievements of sportsmen by awarding them with 'Bhartha rathna'or 'Arjun award'.These are very prestigious awards meant for excellent achievements. In my opinion sportsman should be recognised for their acheivements & their contributions.ex;Srinath,Indian fastbowler in cricket got Arjun award for his excellence in bowling.

Fabiano - Brazil
We've seen that sports can be the escape for a world which is involved in wars and in a huge division between poors and richs. The more competions we have the better we can see other cultures, other people and learn with them. It is a time for enterteinament and for pleasure. And it doesn´t matter if you are a poor girl, discriminated, living far from the city´s facilities. We see a lot of examples in our country - gymnasts, soccer players, and others. The opportunity that sports has given to them is unique. Maybe they would not have this chance in other life´s areas.

RASHID KURDISTAN
I am a kurd and me and my people ahave a interest to football.

lila china
it is very interesting to talk about this issu.why do humman need sportgames ,it is not only the need of health, but also the humanity.human need to comunicate to each other, and to prove he is stronger than the others.nowadays human hate wars,so sport ground, marketplace and others take the place of battle field.every one want to be the winner, also the country.

Ando, Japan
I've looked at sport from both sides now, from give and take, and still somehow it's sport illusion I recall - I really don't know sport at all.

Iris,China
The sport do benifit the world!Winning can make the civilian more confident.Hvaing a good team can make people feel good about their countries, for the succee of sports depend on many things, such as economy.Nowaday goverment place sports an important position.Sportmen not olny be honored by people but also goverment. That's all because the benifit sports cause!

Ivy Yang , China
I absolutely agree that sport can help a country feel good about itself. It can promote the country's international position, but also can show the power of the nation.Different country have different way to award the achievement of its citizents,in order to encourage the citizents, make them make more effort on the sport, continuing to contribute for the country's sport undertaking.China will hold the 2008 Olympic Games,as a Beijing person ,I really proud of my hometown, and my motherland,we all believe that we will must be very successful of the 2008 Olympic games!

Super Bobby China
All the victories which be won by the citizens can raise the national pride and make the citizen feel the strong national power. When the national team win the game people can forget all the troubles, and feel the strong power from cooperation. It makes you feel all the people who was concentrating on the game was a complete part. The same situation i felt was the time when the team china enter the final match of fifa world cup which was held in korea and japan 2002.All of our emtion were nearly crazy, and celebrated the victory.after of all this was the first time for china to show our own football to all over the world.although the result was not very well, the experience was the most precious thing for all the chinese fans.We tasted the real world cup!!All the human races have the similar parts,so i know the mood when British won The Rugby World Cup from my experience.congratulations!!!!!!

Vieri China
At present, the achievement of sports becomes more and more easy to be awarded.Because sports is the most important part in our daliy life and the goverment think it's another way to express thir ability. So,probabiy the country's goverment think it's necessary. But in my opinion the awards is not really important ,the people who played on sports just won a medal without any struggle, they have already earn lots of many from sports,so it's not really necessary.Of cause sometimes it can encourge them and citizens.Thaat's good but the goverment don't need so care of this.

Dawn, China
Nowadays the achievement of sports tends to be officially recognized in many countries which makes a remarkable contrast to the previous ones which is more greater even in the past a few years ago. It won't be realistic to compensate for giving much awards compared with the current awards, but the media shall arouse people's attention not to forget them who contributed much to sports.

China Pipy
I'am a Chinese, in my opinion, sports reflect the development of the country , if the country is a rich one , she is willing to spend the money to hire the famouse coach to train the sportmen, and it is most likely to win in the worldwide, the sportsmen are the representative of the country and they behalf all the people of their country to compete. award the sportsmen is a very usual things and it is not only encourage the sportsmen to workhard but also encourae other people to work hard .on the other hand , the sportsmen deserve to be the award honours because before the competition they practise all the time .

Toshi in Japan
I think it's usual for a country to celebrate remarkable achievement done by its citizens, whether it's of sports or not. It helps the people to feel good and encouraged. Also there must have been continual efforts behind their exceptional achivement. So they surely deserve to be awarded honours in some way. In Japan since 1977 National Honour Award has become the goverment official award to those Japanese who had acheived considerable merit in the field of sports or culture. The first honour went to Mr. Sadaharu Oh who was popular baseball player setting a new world record of home run in 1977 and is now the boss of a baseball team. The most recent honour went to Miss Naoko Takahashi, Gold Medalist in 2000 Sydney Olympic women marathon. But there has been a controversy about the way of the decision that is subjective, not based on clear rules. Mr. Ichiro, the former popular Japan baseball player and now playing the US major-league baseball, declined the offer. A Country sometimes trys to make use of their acheivements to get advantage for the goverment. I think that for them hearty welcome from the many people is nothing less than any other award.

Varsenik Mnatsakanyan, Armenia
I'm from Armenia. In my country goverment focus its attention on developing spots. We have a lot of good sportsmen. Armenia is a small country, and the recognition of our sportsmen by the world community is another way for us to let others know about Armenia. It can help to raise interest toward our country and attract turists to Armenia. I hope that somewhere in the future Armenia will also play host to the Olympic Games. This mean that there will be a significant inflow of foreign investment to our country.

szebond from HK
A horour which can be widely enjoyed by citizens is, no doubt, good for a nation. Especially such kind of amusement cannot be traded , even at any expenses. But what should be borne in mind is that it would be shameful for a country to strive for those titles eagerly in order to promote national glory. Actually, it will be quiet absurd that a status of a country has to be confirmed by others perception by using this way

Han Gye Soo. South Korea
It is quite natural that one have strong desires to become winners in sports games. I have no slightest intention to blame the people or nation who get too hung up on the successful outcome of the game or the nation-wide welcome party (or parade) hold in celebration of their big successes. But I'm strongly oppose that only winners are treated as a national heroes, on the other hand losers receive a cold treatment from their fans or people, because these behaviors completely run counter to real sportsmanship. Moreover I can't understand that some counties make a fuss about their triumph and waste money or energy to gain victories. while pay no attention to their people's welfare. A few years ago I read a shameful news that a group of players who took part in the international game were defeated and in two days they arrived at their country's airport in the midnight. At the same time, they received official notices to go home each other without receiving even fare for returning home due to they were losers. How such a terrible thing could be happened in the world ! In my opinion, sports is essential to enjoy our life or spare time. In sports, the importance of fairly contested match and mutual cooperation cannot be emphasized too much, also the road to real sportsmanship is paved with good fair play regardless of its result. So we have to give a big hand not only to winners but also losers.

Champion China
We should praise the excellent athelets for their effort made for our country, and also praise the g-overnment for the its effort to the world,But on the other hand ,it is important that we should not slack.

BEHZAD -IRAN
My countymen have a very interest to football.they spend many of their times for looking a football but not playing it.exercies are very good for physical and psycological health.

barbara China
Ido think that sport help a country feel good about itself. As a matter of fact, I am from Beijing, China, I was so proud and exited when president of the Olympic Committee announce that the city which was going to hold the 2008 Olmpic Games was BEIJING! Different countries recognise the achievement of its citizens in different ways. In China, we don't have them knighted. However, they are interviewed and their stories will be broadcasted on TV. Thus, more and more people will know more about them as well as their hard work which lead them to success.
