Summary: The British pop artist Robbie Williams, formerly the lead singer in the boy band Take That, has beaten Michael Jackson and John Lennon to become the most important male figure in the industry's history - according to a UK opinion poll.

Pop star Robbie Williams has been voted the most important man in music. More than half a million votes were cast in the poll which was carried out by the music channel VH1.
Superstar Robbie managed to beat off the likes of Elvis, John Lennon, and Freddie Mercury to take the top slot. Williams, who's had five number ones in his six-year solo career since leaving Take That, was more than 77,000 votes ahead of his nearest rival Michael Jackson.
The 'Rock DJ' singer is reported to be currently dating model Rachel Hunter who's separated from old rocker Rod Stewart, who took 35th place.
