Natalie Imbruglia fans are angry that her latest album will not play on some CD players. The new CD, White Lilies Island, comes with special technology which stops the CD being copied into MP3 files. However it also prevents it being played in some older CD and DVD players, and certain PCs.
Record company BMG has admitted it is 'concerned' about the complaints and has set up a telephone hotline to deal with people's questions.
The company said that the protected album was a 'test' but added that BMG would continue to pursue the use of technologies which would stop CD copying.
Sony has also been testing the technology, called Cactus Data Shield, on the last album from boy band 'N Sync.
