Sir Matthew Pinsent is a four time Olympic gold medallist in rowing.
What was the first step you took towards achieving your dream?
Sir Matthew: I guess the decision I took to pursue rowing as a sport after my time at school, I had had plans to travel the world for a year but then changed my mind to pursue what I hoped would be a journey to the Olympics.
When did you know you were well on the way to achieving your dream?
Sir Matthew: I first started in aboat with Steve Redgrave I 1990. there were two years to go before the Olympics and I was rowing with a guy who had already won twice.
How did you know you'd achieved your dream?
Sir Matthew: A minute into the final in Barcelona I just knew we were going to win. We were rowing so well and the opposition were already behind it was clear - I was going to become Olympic champion.
