Emily Westlake

In France, 2007

What do you do, exactly?
I'm a Broadcast and Online Assistant, which means I upload content to the website, do web and office admin, and support the producers.

How long have you worked for BBC Learning English?
Since it began in October 2004. Before that I was in BBC English for one year - I joined in August 2003. I've worked for the BBC (in other departments) since leaving university in 1998.

What other languages can you speak?
German, French and a little bit of Mandarin, Spanish and Italian!

What's your favourite website (other than Learning English)?* (I love researching my family history).

What's your earliest memory?
Watching my brother lose his welly boot on a very muddy walk!

Where's your favourite place, and why?
Worth Abbey - it's a Benedictine monastery in Sussex (southern England) where I have spent a lot of time. The church is really peaceful and helps me to relax.

What would you be doing now, if you didn't work for BBC Learning English?
Running a retreat centre, perhaps!
