March 2008

The Flatmates wins a British Council ELTon.

The ELTons are the British Council's annual award for innovation in English language teaching.

Collecting her award, the creator and writer of The Flatmates, Nuala O'Sullivan, thanked BBC Learning English for giving her the opportunity to be involved in 'such a dynamic, exciting endeavour'. She praised the creative efforts of the whole Flatmates team - Elena Newton, Matt Cleghorn, and all the BBC staff who lend their voices to the drama. But she said it was the faithful audience 'who has made The Flatmates the winner it is tonight'.

This is what one judge said about The Flatmates:

Innovative, practical and effective. I think it's great and - judging by the thousands who visit and use this resource - I am not the only one!

On the same evening our Blogs also won! Read about their success here >>
