- Received a British Press Award commendation and a New York Festival Gold Medal.
- Won a Sony Silver Radio Award for Talk/News Presenter of the Year (1998).
- Previously a correspondent for Reuters and the Observer.
I was in Moscow on the last day of the Soviet Union. I was in Berlin the day Germany was reunified. I was in Hong Kong the day it was handed back from the UK to China.
