  • Started her career in domestic news both on radio and television.
  • Worked on the leading breakfast news programme Today between 1991-1999.
  • Has presented The World Today since its launch in 1999.
  • Also presents BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour.

When I was a child I wanted to be a sweet shop owner, then a fashion designer and for some time I was convinced I was going to be a pop star. My father, was also convinced that I was going to be a lawyer! I quickly gave up on that idea and finally settled on journalism.
