  • Has been working in, on and around the Internet since 1984
  • Formerly head of new media at Guardian newspapers, where he established the paper's first website in 1994
  • Writes a weekly column, the BillBoard, for BBC News online, and monthly feature for new internet users for BBC Webwise
  • A Visiting Fellow of the Journalism department at City University, a trustee of the Cambridge Film Trust and a member of the board of the New Writing Partnership.

Being on Digital Planet means I have to be aware of how technology is changing people's lives around the world, not just in the UK or in countries where internet access is cheap and easy and computers are everywhere. Lots of the cool stuff that can transform society is happening far away from Silicon Valley, and thanks to the show I get to know about it.
