Alan Johnston

  • Studied English and Politics at Dundee University and Journalism at the University of Wales, Cardiff
  • Reported from Central Asia in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union
  • Became the BBC's Kabul correspondent covering the rise of the Taliban

  • He has published a book and won several awards

As a listener I always loved From Our Own Correspondent, and as a journalist, I was lucky enough to contribute to it. I'm delighted to be presenting it now. It's a fantastic show that gives the reporter the freedom to bring alive the extraordinary people he meets, and the momentous events unfolding around him.
