The world famous Abbey Road studios are up for sale, that is according to the Financial Times, which reports EMI wants to raise money to reduce its debts.

The north London studios were made famous by the Beatles, who recorded their best selling albums there in the 1960's. The Abbey Road album cover featured a famous image of the Fab Four, walking over a pedestrian crossing in the road outside the studios, in the north London suburb of St John's Wood.

It is unclear if Terra Firma, the owner of EMI, wants to sell the Abbey Road brand as well as the building that houses the studios.

Other artists who have recorded in the studios include Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Blur.
