The global economic crisis has resulted in millions of people around the world losing their jobs.
In The Gulf, the construction sector has been particularly severely affected.
Many labourers working on building projects have been laid off and sent back home.
However, an unlucky few have been left high and dry.
After losing their jobs they have yet to receive their severance pay and plane tickets back home.
The BBC's Stephanie Hancock investigated the plight of a group of Indian labourers left penniless and stranded miles from home in Abu Dhabi.
