Noel
Gallagher
One
of only two of the original Oasis lineup, Noel Gallagher
is the songwriter and lead guitarist with the band.
Having released their debut album, 'Definitely Maybe'
in 1994 when they were favourites of the national
music press, Oasis took the UK by storm and soon
became one of the country's most successful homegrown
bands ever.
As well as having the strength in their songs, the
band became legendary for living the 'rock and roll
lifestyle', with sibling rivalry playing a large
part in their temperamental nature.
For the release of the follow-up album, '(What's
The Story) Morning Glory?', Oasis went head to head
with the other Britpop band of the moment, Blur.
Although Blur's single beat Oasis', it was Oasis
who had the last laugh when their album outsold
Blur's 'The Great Escape'.
The third Oasis album, 'Be Here Now', was not received
as well as the previous two, but the band have released
an album early in the 21st century called 'Standing
On The Shoulder of Giants'. Already hailed by many
as a return to form, the new Oasis line-up is currently
touring and ready to conquer the world again.
Noel lives with his wife, Meg Matthews, and their
daughter, Anais. Sean Rowley presents this programme
from Supernova Heights. Noel has been known for
speaking controversially and to the point, and his
fans won't be disappointed with this. |
